Am I the only one who feels like summer snubbed us up here in Duluth? I know how much people love their cool weather up here but this was a bit much for me. That was a long winter last year and it feels like it's right around the corner again. Don't get me wrong, I love fall, but making that transition into winter is a lot easier after the sun has beaten you into submission.
Of the nice we days we have had I've made good use of them and there have been some great summer days this year, just not as many as I'd like. Even as I write this it's supposed to be in the 80's for this weekend into next week so I'm done with this blog crap, I'm going outside!

So we started a cover band, that's right a cover band, big woop, wanna fight about it?!
There are a lot of musicians who dog the whole cover band thing, I was one of them, but then I got to thinking about it and it made sense. Everyone in our band could use the extra money and what better way to do it then by playing music? It beats the hell out of a desk job. We're called Rock Brigade and we are primarily an 80's hair metal band.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little bit like a sellout, at first, but I don't anymore. It is an immense amount of work learning 50 songs right out of the gate and putting together some kind of stage act for it. We have a long way to go but we're getting there. We make more money in one night, even as a first time act, than we do in 4-5 original shows.
Balancing that with the SuperTacks and my own solo stuff is very taxing at times. Everyone in the band struggles to keep everything together, it's a lot of work. No one can question our commitment to music, with everything we've all got going on, we still make every practice each week and bust our asses to put the best shows together we can so I'm not going to sweat the nay-sayers of cover bands. I say, don't knock it 'til you try it, it's not as easy as you think.
